The Mysterious Dispute According to ancient Jewish texts, Satan claimed the body of Moses as his own, arguing that Moses had committed a grave sin before his death. On the other hand, Saint Michael, the archangel and defender of righteousness, fought to protect Moses' body from Satan's clutches.
