Former Tricycle or Motorcycle Cab Driver is Now the Owner of a Farm and Resort

From Tricycle Driver to Resort Owner: The Inspiring Journey of Reg Caligagan

From Humble Beginnings

Life as a Tricycle Driver

Once a tricycle driver, Reg Caligagan, faced the challenges of daily life head-on. Reflecting on his past, Reg shares, "Back then, Reg, strive hard to achieve his goals and dreams. He rented the tricycle for 100 pesos, and he earned around 300 pesos a day." Despite the hardships, Reg remained focused on his aspirations.

The Birth of Reca Resort

Reg's journey from tricycle driver to resort owner is nothing short of inspiring. The name "Reca" is derived from the first two letters of his first and last names, Reg Caligagan. During the pandemic, Reg saw an opportunity and decided to establish Reca Resort, a tropical-themed getaway with Bali-inspired private villas.

Developing Reca Farm and Resort

Land Acquisition and Expansion

Reca Farm and Resort spans one hectare, a property Reg purchased through installments. "I bought it on an installment plan, and by December, the payments will be complete," he explained. This substantial investment showcases Reg's commitment and risk-taking ability, essential traits for any entrepreneur.

Innovative Cabin Concepts

Reca Resort features 14 public cabins, each with a unique name inspired by emotional expressions or "hugot." Reg emphasizes the creativity behind these names, which adds a personal touch to the resort's ambiance. The cabins, originally tents, were transformed into fully air-conditioned spaces due to low demand for the initial setup.

Affordable Luxury

One of the standout features of Reca Resort is the affordability without compromising comfort. "Our cabins are priced at 1,999 pesos per night, with no additional corkage or entrance fees. They are fully air-conditioned," Reg noted, highlighting the value offered to guests.

Overcoming Challenges

Transition from Tricycle Driver to Business Owner

Balancing multiple roles, Reg worked as a tricycle driver and a volunteer barangay tanod, earning around 300 pesos daily. His perseverance and dedication laid the foundation for his entrepreneurial journey. "I also ventured into online selling and e-commerce, which provided additional income," he explained.

Financial and Personal Investment

Investing in the resort was a significant financial undertaking. Reg purchased the land for 7 million pesos and invested around 100,000 pesos per cabin. Despite the risks, Reg’s calculated approach and commitment to reinvesting earnings into the resort enabled its growth.

Resort Features and Technology

Infinity Pool and Copper Technology

Reca Resort boasts an infinity pool powered by Copper Technology. Reg explains, "Copper Technology is used to filter germs and bacteria, ensuring a clean swimming experience without the use of chlorine." This innovative approach enhances the guest experience, setting Reca Resort apart from others.

Dedication to Quality and Service

Reg's dedication to quality is evident in every aspect of the resort. From the creative cabin names to the advanced pool technology, every detail is meticulously planned. His team, including former tricycle drivers and barangay tanods like Noel, shares this commitment, contributing to the resort’s welcoming atmosphere.

Inspirational Impact

Achieving Dreams Through Hard Work

Reg’s journey from a tricycle driver to a successful resort owner serves as an inspiration to many. "Many will be inspired by You," a visitor remarked, acknowledging Reg’s perseverance and dedication. Despite the financial risks, Reg's story underscores the importance of hard work and calculated risk-taking in achieving one's dreams.

Looking Ahead

As Reca Resort continues to grow, Reg remains focused on expanding and enhancing the guest experience. His story is a testament to the power of resilience and innovation, inspiring others to pursue their goals regardless of their starting point.
