Dahil sa Love & Devotion BBM Supporters Ginaya ang suporters ni Leni Robredo sa Macau kahit walang Permit sa Gathering
The Public Security Police said they invited people wearing t-shirts and displaying banners about the Philippine presidential election to the police station. The "invitations" were made on Sunday and the stay at the police station lasted until yesterday. At issue may be illegal demonstrations and misuse of the Macao SAR symbol or flag
Authorities took 16 people from the Filipino community who were said to be in the Ruins of São Paulo and in the vicinity of the Macau Tower to the police station to testify. At issue are investigations that may involve violation of the right to assemble and demonstrate, as well as the use of the Macao SAR symbol in the production of promotional materials for presidential candidate Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr..
The number was advanced by the Public Security Police Corps (CPSP) to the HM, after the authority was questioned about arrests in the two locations and possible charges.
In response, the CPSP denied that there had been any arrests and stressed that the people were only heard as “assistants in the investigation”. “We are still working on the report that will be delivered to the Public Ministry, but no one was arrested. People are involved in the case and assistants have been appointed for the investigation”, explained Lei Tak Fai, the CPSP spokesperson.
The group of people in the Ruins of São Paulo “invited”, on Sunday afternoon, for a visit to the police station, consisted of 12 individuals. On that day, several people were together on the Ruins' staircase with red t-shirts in support of Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos Jr., also known as Bongbong Marcos.
The case in the vicinity of the Macau Tower is related to the use of the Macao SAR logo on campaign materials. According to a source heard by HM, four were involved. “On Sunday night there were four detainees. Not only the people responsible for making the banner with the Macau symbol but also those who were just holding the banners,” a source who asked to remain anonymous told HM. “The arrests were made solely for misuse of the Macau symbol banner,” it added. Police confirmed the number of "assistants".
The source interviewed by HM presented the report of the events even before the CPSP response, however, revealed that "the assistants" will have left the squadron, already yesterday afternoon, with the feeling that they were waiting for a decision on whether they would, or not, be accused.
⚠️⚠️In accordance with the Regional Flag and Emblem Use and Protection Act, the regional flag and emblem “may not be displayed or used in trademarks or advertising” and “other occasions or places where the Chief Executive restricts or prohibits its display or use”. Violations related to the Macao SAR symbol are punishable by a fine ranging from 2,000 to 20,000 patacas.⚠️⚠️
⚠️⚠️In the case of violations of the demonstration law, suspects risk a penalty of up to two years of imprisonment or a fine.⚠️⚠️
The method of “inviting” people suspected of violating the assembly and demonstration law is not new in the MSAR. In March of this year, around 13 people were taken to the police station, after refusing to leave Tap Siac, where a demonstration was scheduled, meanwhile canceled, about the electronic consumption card. Despite being taken in the vehicles of the authorities, for refusing to leave the place, the CPSP came hours later to deny having made any arrests and treated the people as “assistants”.
Meanwhile, the Philippine Consulate General in Macau has issued an Official Advisory reminding Filipinos to avoid organizing Public Gatherings. Below is the official statement from the Embassy.
